Are people not buying sixers anymore?
THe reason why I ask this is because in the latest Swetwater catalog, theres not a single six string bass, whereas there always used to be one in there. One can only assume that their catalogs reflect their current market trends.
They have loads of 5's in there though and artists endorsing 5's
Is it just not "cool" to play a 6 string bass anymore or something?
Im from a smaller town in Arkansas, and in the music store that I frequented, I was one of the few customers who even bothered to look into a six. I know this is partly due to location. But there would be bass players coming in there looking for 5 string basses (young bucks) and I would say "Hey, if you are thinking about a 5, why not just go and get a six. After a year or two you are going to want that extra string, so why not get a bass you can grow into?"
This wasn't very sucessful.
Any thoughts?
