Sheesh I'm mad about my 30 minute commuteI jumped to a new band quickly after my last project of 9 years died. I now wish I had taken some time off instead of rapidly jumping into something. I'm not sure if I'll follow this one through or not. The people are nice enough, but I'm not into the material, and it's an hour's drive to rehearsal.
@Hot Rats - I just quit a band that played same material! Good bunch of people, lots of the same kinda gigs, but having played with them for 10 years, I found that I could only play Suavecito so many times. I'm now filling in for all the other bands in my area that also play that same material.I'm right where I want to be. One band is a Tex-Mex outfit. Lots of Cumbias, Rancho's, traditional Mexican music. Lots of 70's Chicano music like El Chicano, Malo, Santana and then lots of 50's 60's rock n roll. Up front bass and so groovy. Great players and a pro band all around. Gigs with lowrider car clubs/car shows and Mexican weddings and parties. The food is fantastic! Then my other band is a 3-piece blues band. Old time blues like John Lee Hooker stuff. Really raw and raunchy blues. No polished stuff. I couldn't ask for more. Then I got a buddy who I've been recording music with for 30 years and we get into our studios and write some weird things. very personal and creative stuff. I'm satisfied.
Hahahaha, Suavecito. No doubt. I've played a hundred times but still enjoy it@Hot Rats - I just quit a band that played same material!
