What's your least favorite color for a bass guitar?

I had to buy a P bass in a hurry when I needed something with frets and got the only one available: a 76 in walnut, aka mocha. Really would not have chosen :poop: brown if there were anything else available, but I learned to love it and somehow ended up with all brown or burst basses (except one in black).

Guess I don't have a least favorite, but apparently brown turned into a fave of sorts?

I can’t stand, or understand, those paint drip finishes.
I haven't seen that on instruments; are you referring to something like the Roseville vase on the left in this photo?

Sorry about the black bass and all that natural wood.

LEAST favorite? Oh off the top of my head I'd say purple or antigua. Not a fan. Nor am I a fan of "matching headstocks" usually for some reason. Not crazy about "natural" no color basses.
My MOST favorite/forever iconic color is the classic sunburst/rosewood fingerboard with tort on a Fender jazz. That's classic. Love it.
Nearly any bass looks it's best with tort. Nearly. There are very few exceptions.
2nd favorite: Black/Rosewood/Tort.
I like some white basses but tend strongly towards off-white/ivory/butterscotch tones of white.

Solid colors that hide the wood, black, white, blue, red… no. No sunbursts and no dark browns.

It’s wood, so a transparent color that accents and colors wood grain. Blues, purple, green, black and bright colors - no brown and no sunburst.

The old Fender "target burst" with the red ring looks tacky and cheap to me. It makes me think of junky beginner or craigslist hardware store rattle can refinish guitars. I think regular brown to black sunburst without the red normally looks very classy though.

I think whether colors look good also depends on the overall context of the design. Some colors aren't necessarily bad, but maybe look out of place. Neon green on a pointy 80s hair metal design? Great. A 51p? Ummm, maybe not.

This thread has me gassing for an alleva coppolla in antingua with a matching headstock.
By the way, mocha brown and walnut are not the same color. Walnut is a stain on either alder or ash but mocha brown is pretty rare color from the early 80s I think. A solid metallic brown finish. Not sure if there are many mocha brown fender basses around these days. They're as rare as stratoburst. Sahara taupe is pretty cool too.
