Where are the EQs?

My tone is more the result of which bass, amp and cabs I use than the EQ settings. Having 31 bands to worry about is to fussy for me. I've found that, by setting the EQ flat on my Eden rig, I can get any of the numerous tones I require from the EQ on the bass. Occasionally I may need to boost the bass or mids just a skosh to get the most out of the room.

Frankly, I think your need for a 31-band EQ is driven either by a finicky obsession or lack of appropriate gear. There has got to be a better bass/amp combination for you to achieve your tone out there, one that wouldn't require all this fader diddling.

Well I ended up returning the EQ, so right now I have a Sansamp DI and my GK1001. The compressor never gets used. After my obsession to try to fix with processing, I found out that it was all in the strings. I have been using 45-100 Ernie Ball cheap strings for the past few months, not realizing that they were the reason my tone was so thin and lifeless. I ended up trowing on some slightly more expensive blue steels in the 50-105 size, and I absolutely love my tone. I like it with or without the DI engaged. In is a little warmer or course. I have the GK mounted in a rack now, and would love to just get rid of that pedal board for a while. I want to keep the sansamp, and I need a tuner available. I would love rack mount only, but that is around $450, and I just bought my new pedals. For a little more I could get the line6 Proxt with tuner, EQ, compression, modeling, and the remote board with wah and stop boxes. I just don't think that the unit is good for live use. I can't find people who actually like it to gig with. My tone is solid, but I can't get into effects without having all of these damn pedals and 100 points of failure. Not to mention the weight of the pedal board keeps growing.
Just getting the rack Korg 1000 tuner and RBI might be the best way to go in the long run. I probably wouldn't use that line6 for much more than a distortion and whah pedal anyhow, unless the modeling is really good.
Later,
Wes
