Where does the bridge go?

Still building a bass and I'm getting closer to the hardware installation. Now, my question is, where do I put the bridge? On the Stewmac fretslot calculator it gives you the position of a Fender style bridge, but it goes from the rearward screws. So that won't help me.
My first instinct was "measure 32 inches and put the bridge in such a way that the saddle adjustment in the middle is right at the 32 mark", but I'm probably missing something crucial. I know that all the strings won't be exactly at 32 inch, which is why I'm looking for advice now.

The bridge I'm going to use is a Kahler 7410 (rearward saddles).

I read the instructions again, I missed the part where it actually explains it. It says you have to take the scale length plus 1.150. So the rear screws on the Kahler should be 33.150'' from the nut away?

This is basically correct, except the saddle mustn't be in the middle but at its most forward, i.e. closest to the nut.

The reason is that you usually only adjust intonation by moving the saddles back, not forward, so you don't need to give the saddles headroom to move forward.
 
^What they said^ and just in case anything's funny, or you're on a different scale length, or... Use twice the distance from the nut to the 12th fret. Which should be 16" for a 32" scale board.

But just slot in the habit of basing bridge saddle forward position on nut to 12 x2 and it's always good on any scale. Likewise, depending on bridge design, it's really the highest string that typically needs to be anywhere near the actual scale length - just look at the bridge on a properly intonated bass - the fatter the strings, the more the saddle goes back, pretty much.

I agree with the guys above: Locate your bridge based on the position of the saddles in relation to the scale length from the nut (or 12th). And do that with the saddles adjusted almost all the way forward in the bridge.

Be really careful about using any spec to locate the bridge mounting screw holes. That's only for Fender spec hardware and dimensions. Measure to the saddles.
 
Make sure you know how far out your bridge saddles can go, and put the bridge so that at that point, they're twice the distance from the nut to the 12th fret. Having as much string as you can get behind the bridge saddles is helpful in avoiding winding the fat part of your E or B string around the tuner post. I've used longer saddle screws a couple of times to allow the saddles more travel, and get that last quarter or eighth of an inch back there.
