I'm okay, needed to back off here a little. Very busy life right now and that is a good thing. For one my neighboor finally got a liver transplant. He needs someone with him 24/7. It has been two weeks and his body is responding well to his new liver. He is out of it though. He is somewhat incoherent and that concerns me. That doctors are not sure what the issue is, maybe the drugs he is taking. I have a lot of hope that he is going to come through this.

Boy. The miracles that humanity can perform.

If we were to focus on things like this instead of some of the acts on the world stage I might be proud to be human.

That was happening last January. Turns out my neighbor was having a reaction to the drugs they were giving him to keep his body from rejecting his new liver. They adjusted the drugs and the dosage and he slowly returned to normal. Then his Hep C count started rising. Between his bodies desire to reject the new liver and the Hep C there was a little battle going on inside of him.
In May the doctors decided to give him a new drug that has come out for Hep C. Within a month he was clear of the disease and he said there was almost no side affects from the drug.
He has gone from a semi coherent very old looking guy to back how he was ten years ago before the disease started acting up. It is amazing, I am so happy for him. This new drug gives hope the Hep C patients. Before this a lot of people took a drug called Interferon that made you really sick for about a year and was maybe 50% effective. The new treatment is a huge improvement. The only down side is that the new drug costs a thousand dollars a day to take. My neighbor took it for about a month but his treatment was covered by the government.

That's great news for your neighbor!

Pricing on new medications is crazy. I was on an antibiotic for almost a year that cost $300 per dose, three times a day. My doctor said that always happens with new drugs that are in demand because the drug companies feel the need to recoup and double the cost of R&D.

On another note, revived threads make me miss Matty.

So I haven't been on OT in a few weeks, I decide to pop in and see what's up, and lo and behold, a thread I started back in 2012, back when I was still going by the agent77 moniker. Now I got a warm fuzzy feeling.
