where to find a singer?

some members might remember me having a thread about this chick singer who had a HUGE drug problem but lots of raw talent, well just a quick update shes out of jail, quit school and moved to georgia with her boyfriend whom she went to jail over in the first place so shes out of the picture:rollno:.

so since im back to square one how should i go about finding a singer...a good one. ive tried craigslist and have got nothing and ive tried joinmyband.com and others like it and still nothing. all the good singers i know are in touring bands, dont know what to do on this one

I've heard many suggest karaoke bars as a good place to find singers. Having worked in a karaoke bar, I'm just a tad skeptical myself. Still, at least you have a situation where you can hear voices, see if they have any stage presence, etc.

One of the things that I would advise when searching for a "chick singer" is to *never* (unless you clear it with that person, FIRST) refer to, or call any woman a "chick" or a woman who sings, a "chick singer". Some women will surely find such terminology personally offensive. Some won't. But why take chances if you really need to find someone? Play it safe. Bearing this in mind (no matter how you in reality refer, or don't refer to women), I think is just part of good, intelligent, effective communication and decency.

so glad i have a cool chick singer. she dont mind at all when I say 'chick singer'. then again, she has pipes that kill. (take a listen - www.missalibi.com)...so its usually something like....

"we've got this amazing chick singer, you gotta check her out". (said within earshot of said chick singer, lol)

Strip clubs. You get a hot front person who craves attention.
Maybe she can even sing.
And the potential for drama (you're already familiar with that scene) is boundless.

I would think that you would want a singer to have, along a good sense of pitch, at least some knowledge of musical notation and intervals. I'd rather have someone like that than a great voice without it.

I wouldn't know how to find that, but it would be in whatever ad I placed.
