I have the following set up:
Drums (kick and snare mic'd)
Bass direct
Acoustic guitar direct
Keys direct
Elec guitar mic'd
Violin -direct out of his amp (only for certain shows)
Male lead vox
Female lead box
2 male back up singers (drummer and guitarist)
Running into a:
Mackie CFX16 MK2
3 monitor mixes (one to in ears- 2 to wedges)
Dbx 266xl compressor/gate
Rane AC122 crossover
DOD graphic eq (for monitors)
Crown xls 1000 for 2 monitors -Yamaha 12s
QSC PLX 1804 for mains - JBL Eon1500s
QSC PLX 3002 for subs - EV Sb122s (2)
This set up is our med set up, for private parties in catering halls, smaller outdoor bars, etc. most of the time we play sound is provided. I just picked up the DBX 266 and I was wondering how to best use it in my set up. I was hoping to place the 4 vocals in a sub group and use one channel on that, but there is no insert on the Mackie's 4 sub groups. Kick drum? Snare? Put it on the main output of the mackie?
Thanks for your feedback. The music is jimmy buffet, new country, summer fun time... Nothing too heavy.
