Which Amp Is Better? Ashdown or Trace Elliot?

Hi guys,

I'm new to bass guitar, and I'm torn between two second hand amps. Which is a better amp (both are about the same price, both good condition) :

1) Trace Elliot 715SMC 150W 115 Combo Amp

2) Ashdown Mag C410T-300 300 watts/4X10 cabinet

I need to make a decision pretty soon! - any ideas? Lola

****Oops - sorry - the Trace amp is not the 115w model, it's the Trace Elliot 300 7215 SMC watt bass combo! Lola

I'd rather have a Trace Elliot than an Ashdown myself. I just always like them more.

i just recently purchased the mag 300 and 410T and i think it's great, for whatever that's worth to you. i don't know anything about trace, so i don't think this will be much help but i think the ashdown is fantastic. i can get plenty of solid tones and it really puts out in the volume dept. the only concern i still have to figure out is the whole underpowering the cab issue and whether that's gonna be a problem. other than that, i guess my strongly biased opinion would be the ashdown.

Some people from Trace went to start Ashdown but you get pretty different general sounds from each company.

Also +1 to underpowering.

Would the Ashdown be more recent? I know the Trace is about 8 years old...
