I'm looking at better a P bass and I can't decide which.
I recently bought an American Standard Jazz which I love.
I'm looking at the Squier CV P 60s soon or the American Standard P later on in the year.

Is the Fender worth the wait? I really like my fender jazz, it great. But is a fender P worth the wait? I'm slightly torn as I like both basses.

Please no fighting about the basses please. I just need reasons and opinions that I can use to make up my mind.

Squier is really good for the money, most would probably say it could compete with the MIM P, but the American fender is a whole step above either. So if you're willing to shell out the $$$ to get a better bass, get the MIA. (don't worry, people will be along shortly to tell you that I'm a liar) :)

Easy answer to this question. For $600 get two, a squire P, and J. If you have to ask this type of question you are not ready for boutique basses are high end basses. If you need more from a squire, you can always upgrade it, and it will sound as good as a high dollar bass. I modded the crap out of a affinity P and I will put it up against anybody’s CV, VM’s, MM, and MIA’s that I’ve heard so far.

IMO dont worry about the color. if you could find a few american standard p basses. Play them and pick which one sounds the best. Even though they are the same bass they are made of wood and no two pieces of wood are the same. I also own an american standard jazz and i've played others that dont quite sound the same as mine. Also is does your jazz have the maple or rosewood board? if you want a p with a brighter sound go for the maple.

all things to consider.

Id go squire. I dont own a mia anymore and dont plan on owning another one. Im not an elitist or anything like that but i prefer my cheap squires over fenders why? because a cheap squier is easy to replace if something happens to it or it gets stolen at a show. I had a 74 mia j bass and it got stolen at a show. And no one wants to steal " a crappy squire" which isnt really the case buy a squier and use the extra cash to buy some pickups and new electronics. sound wise id take my vm squier over most basses because of the amazing nordstrand pickups i threw in it.

I have heard that MIA fenders aren't completely made in the US.
some components come from china, I'm sure I'll be corrected on this by someone.

OT:
Me personally I don't hear enough of a tonal difference between Squiers and MIA Fenders. I would play a tonne of each see what fits you best.
