Which compressor DIY kit?

To put it simply, I want to try out a compressor on my bass rig and I like to build stuff. Kits are pretty cheap, which is nice, but there are a lot to choose from. Which ones would you recommend? "Clean" or with a bit of character, anything is interesting.

I have found these guys in Poland to be good and inexpensive GUITAR-ELECTRONICS.EU
I haven't tried their compressor yet though.

I really like the Engineer's Thumb compressor. I built one for myself, and I prefer it over my Aguilar TLC (which replaced a MXR M87). A guitarist I know tried it and I had to build one for him too. Engineer´s Thumb - Compressor kit, 28,00 €

I recommend Lectric FX Zirc jr optical compressor. Engineer's Thumb is also a good choice with easier to source components.

they didn’t have any, by email they said they might get some more in, they did, people I know bought them, they have sold out
