I just had to vote for the Jaguar. Like a Jazz with all kinds of options. Also, it seems to have a slightly deeper, more balanced tone than a lot of Jazzes that I've played. Of course, I still love a good Jazz and a good Precision as well.

I cant decide between the Jazz and the P so I am holding my vote out for now. I almost could use either and be happy. The Jags are cool too but I prefer the neck and simpler features on the Geddy Lee Jazz.

I'm just trying to see what people like. If you like a geddy bass go with a jazz, I just want to know the models people like of fenders.

Very close call, I own both a Jazz and a P, but I find that the Jazz tends to be the go to most of the time now...

Jags have the same neck as the Geddy. As far as simple, you got me there. The Jag is not that complex though, and once you find your settings, you will not need to change them very often, if ever. For me, its both pickups on, in parallel and passive with the volume and tone all the way. Pretty simple, but not Geddy Jazz simple.

Make mine a Jazz. It'll give you bassy goodness in just about every flavor. A new set of nickels and run it full on and you'll get a great slap out of it, as well as the quintessential Jazz Bass fingerstyle sound which fits in practically anywhere. Turn off the bridge pickup (DiMarzio Ultra Jazzes anyone?) and darken the tone and it does a wonderful impression of a P-bass. Blend towards the bridge and you get a great jazz burp a la Jaco. Scoop the EQ with the bass set towards bridge and it'll do a decent MM impression (the MM does it much better though).

But besides its versatility, the Jazz bass is simply a great player. It just feels like an old friend or your favorite pair of blue jeans, even if you normally play a fiver or sixer.

With no information on style of playing, type of music, etc. I wouls still say Jazz as it is the most versatile IMO. It may not have all of the Jag's buttons and knobs, but you can play any style on a Jazz.

I jump between the P-Bass and the Jazz Bass... I use to be just a P-Bass guy, but since I got my Jazz I can't decided which I like better between the two.

I'd say jazz exclusively, but having played the carrot bass, it's got all the jazz tone, jazz feel, and it's a carrot. I mean, what more could ya want?!

For me there are only 2 choices the Jazz or Precision.The feel and virsatility of the Jazz is awesome for that reason i'd go for the Jazz.I don't call mine MOFO for nothing.

I've been using a USA P/J for a few years now and love the sound and feel of it. Really would like a Geddy jazz as well though.
Don't know what to vote here, mmmmmmmmmm......still don't know.

I think 'best' is a relative term.
I think if you asked which was 'more versatile', 'more value for money', 'more playable' etc. you'd get a different set of answers.

I personally like the Fender P. Not so much because I think its the best but because I feel it suits the music I play better than a Jazz.

As Henry Ford said, you can have any color you want so long as it's black. Now, thankfully, we live in a time when the range of color choices is as wide as it's ever been. But I see that the question of which black is best still blinkers some people.

The question "Which Ford is best" is likely irrelevant to anyone looking to get the best car for their money.
