1) Presuming the Ultralites would be the easiest to swap onto this Fender AmPro? (Gonna take it the luthier route anyway.)

Yes you would want the 1/2” but take into consideration that if you choose the less expensive licensed hipshots, they are a (smaller ) diameter and will be loose in the headstock without adding a bit of tape wrap to make snug. the USA ones are properly sized
The licensed one are the cheaper ones. You want the USA made Ultralites.Thanks for the info. I’m going with the normal licensed ones. I’d rather just spend the money on something of quality once, rather than deal w/ the potential headaches of the cheaper option.
Those AM Pro tuners are pretty light, about 72g. You won't save much weight by changing them to Ultralites.
