Which (inexpensive) Monitors?

I can get either
- 2 KRK Rokit 5, plus the KRK SUb
- 2 KRK Rokit 8
or
- Blue Sky eXo (?) 2.1

I like the smaller footprint of the 5's, and the sub would help the 5's, I know. The 8's sounded nice, but I don't think I heard them loud enough where the 8" was much of a difference.
And I just saw the Blue Sky's for the first time, and did not hear them.
EDIT: Looks like the Blue Skys are a glorified set of computer speakers. Not sure that I'd consider them at this point.

Thoughts?

I just bought the Blue Sky monitors to go with a Roland digital piano I got for the family. I'm not sure I will keep them, yet at this point (literally have just an hour or so on them). The price is right and I've read good reviews on them. Seem to be well built, though they do feel like very well made computer speakers. I found them to be fairly clear and accurate - it is nice to have a sub integrated into the system. I feel I have to really crank it (both gain and sub) to get the volume and fullness that I'm looking for, so was surprised at the relative lack of headroom, though there is little-no noise even at these levels. Still playing with them, but these are my initial thoughts. It lets me run stereo with a sub for a great price, so want to give them a chance...

Thanks, I'll maybe go and have them open up a set at GC and have a listen.

between the krk's the size, dimension, and acoustics of the room are gonna be the deciding factor. If you dont have much bass management in the room the sub could do more harm than good. Either of those solutions in a tiny room are gonna be tough to mix on. If its a tiny room your better off going just with the stereo set of like 6 inch cones or something.

Ah, good catch! I neglected to say where I was going to use them.
My plan is an an open "living room" area of my house. Carpeted, and odd-shaped of about 600 square feet. I may get kicked into an extra bedroom.
I don't see a problem with these locations where I'll have a lot of sound bouncing around.
Another option is right in the middle, the 6's.

If your in a 600 square foot carpeted room get the 8's and spread them like 8 feet apart and sit real far back, youll be in love. I say this cuz I have a set of 8 inch monitors and this is what I do. Alot of people will say 8 inch monitors are really like midfield, which is kinda true. I have to get my monitors pretty far apart and sit pretty far back to get in the sweet spot. With a room that large you'll be fine with probably any of those options.

These are the KRK Rokit 8's with no sub. The room is roughly 12' x 12'. I use them nearly every day. I like their sound (especially playing bass) and I haven't had any problems with them (almost 2 years). ;)

Nice looking kit.
I just bought the 6's.
The 8's have too big of a footprint, and I think that I need to be a little farther away from them to get into the sweet-spot. The 5's were decent, even on bass. But I figured..... Get the 6's, $300 for a pair of "Limited Edition" Rokit 6's.
