I was considering a Markbass head and see there are a lot of different new and discontinued models. I may even buy a used one. any thoughts or suggestions on these?

I use the little mark tube 800...I really like it...its super loud and really clear...not to mention incredibly light to carry
If I was to buy a new head, to replace my SA450, I think I would go with this model: Invalid Link Removed. I love the module idea.
There seems to be a lot of love for the Little Mark Tube 800. The Black 500 has the tube preamp with semi-parametric mid controls and a class A/B amp--which is supposed to sound a bit more vintage than the class D (800), from the reviews I've read.
I'm not against class D, at all. I just couldn't be happier with the sound of my current rig and it's a class A/B amp.

A lot will depend on your personal needs for power and your budget. I love my LMIII head. I bought it used from another TB'er for $350 a few months ago. Great tone and simple to use.
Honestly one of the selling points for me was how light the lmt 800 was...it has great sound an enough power to flip a Mack truck...but on top of all that I can basically carry it in one hand
+1 on the Big Bang. I've had one for about 2 months and totally love it!
Great EQ center points and a really nice head phone amp built in.
It also has foot switchable mute.
As a side cosmetic comment, I could never warm up to the black and yellow face plate of the LM amps. Looks too much like a construction zone ........
