which of these basses should i get?

hey guys if u had to pick eithet the jay turser jtb-402 (jazz bass copy) or the jtb-440 (stingray copy) which would it be? i also saw on the site tht the jtb440 (stingray) has tgree knobs even though there is one pup only. does it hav a 2band eq?

thanks :)

Some people like jazz basses. Some like stingrays. That one's gotta be your call. If you have a chance to play them, whichever feels more comfortable to you. I agree also that there are other choices you also might want to consider. IMO the highest quality inexpensive bass you can get right now is hands down one of these squier jaguar Search | Musician's Friend . Any particular reason you've set your sights on the Jay Tursers?

I was going to recommend a squier as well if your looking for a price of around 150-300. They have really stepped it up in sound quality recently. If you find a squier with duncan designed in them, I would go for it. Like the vintage modified jazz squier. The thing is awesome.

Squire VM. I'd say they're around 300$ new, and they're well worth it. If you ever want to go with a Precision, the Classic Vibe Squier precision is fantastic!

But, if you really want the jazz, definitely go for a Squier Vintage Modified. The Jay Turser model just isn't worth it.

alright thanks guys but i pretty much was thinking the tursers becse theyre really cheap 189$ and the gd squiers usually go for 300$ to 350$ (tx included) which is almost double the price

They are worth the extra money or could could find one used. The Turser may be initially cheaper but in the end it will end up costing you more than if you bought a better bass to begin with.

Yeah i know musicians friend has the squiers but i live in montreal so i dnt know about the shipping anyways...I just went on the squier site and i was really digging the look and features of the squier modified jaguar bass with one humbucker at the bridge. It also has a 3 band eq which makes it look pretty versatile and its actually only 200$. The silver one looks nice but i find it looks a bit dull with the pickguard..what do u guys think?

Didn't even look on there, that's pretty cheap. Now I am contemplating getting one to play around with!

Between the two Id get the stingray copy if it had comfortable neck and solid wood body. And Id prob eventually upgrade the pickup and preamp. Youd prob be better off with a used ibanez, esp ltd, peavey, etc bass in your price range. But the jay turser stuff Ive examined was ok for the money.

not knowing you or your abilities or finance I would say Jazz but am wondering why choose from just 2 Tursers? a friend selling?there are many fine instruments for the money in this economy and I think the chance of getting a good Turser is likely I have used them when on a gig and not near home needing a cheap backup.Once on a gig we bought some on the road and bumped up our pay selling raffle tix on a purple Turser strat I dont know why folks slam these some bassists like them but again go for what is comfy in looks sound feel and price and you can do worser than a Turser
