Janek, I’ve been a big fan of your playing, even since my days as a drummer. I’ve been playing bass pretty consistently for almost 3 years and have only really understood theory in the context of patterns. I’m looking to expand my playing and learn some more melodic ideas and your books sound awesome. My only issue is that I’ve never learned to read bass clef… though I’m sure I could pick it up quite quickly. I’m already acquainted with reading rhythms from my professional drumming days. Which of your books would you recommend I buy to get started along this process? If not one of your books, what recommendations would you have for someone in my shoes? Thank you for your time. Respectfully, Ryan
Ryan, I think with your previous knowledge of rhythm, any of the books would be a good place to start, it just all depends on what you want to get started on first. They do all come with TAB so you can always reference that if you get stuck on the bass clef. Two of the most popular ones to date have been the Pentatonics book and the latest one "Iconic Lines" as they both come with an extensive library of play alongs and videos. Thanks, Janek
