The second picture is a bit murky. Is the pickguard a dark tort, or just black with lots of fingerprints?

Personally I don't care for the look of a white guitar with a white pickguard, so I vote for the second one. I own a 2006 Fender MIM Jazz that originally looked like your first picture. I bought a tort pickguard and put that on instead. Much better.

Your bass has a fretboard that really goes well with that tort pickguard. The color seems to match better than most.
