Which One?

So I'm getting back into the bass game after a few years of being out. I'm looking to buy a new (to me, can be used) bass and after playing around with a Peavey Grind 4 stringer at Guitar Center I found a guy who is selling an Ibanez SRX2EX2 that he would let me have for $180 and from pictures and talking to him, it seems to be in good shape. Now I assume the Grind 4 and the SRX2EX2 are pretty much in the same class and have similar, new, price tags.

Any comments on either would be great as I'd like to hear first hand knowledge if it's out there.

Also, as trivial as it is, looks are very important to me and I absolutely love the way the Grind looks.

I am into slap and pop so I'm also wondering which one would be better for that.

Any inputs would be hugely appreciated. Thanks.

Well, I really can't find much on either of these. :(

The Peavey is through-neck mahogany and maple with dual humbuckers. It is passive (no battery needed) and has a volume and tone control for each pickup. If it sounds good and feels good (we already know you think it looks good), I think this might be the one.

The Ibanez is a bolt on neck. I don't know the wood used but I think the neck is maple. It has two humbuckers and an active EQ (needs a battery). Volume, blend, bass, treble controls.

Hope this helps!
