Which pair to choose

I have an low class PJ bass, (Fansen) it's pickups are almost dead, (having some damage). I've searched around and found some choices.
Bartolini, DiMarzio, EMG.

I know EMG are active pickups and many bass players prefer to use them, but what is the real difference between these three one, why should I prefer EMG to DiMarzio? I prefer much more jazzy and slap sound. what is your advice?

Each of those pickup manufacturers makes more than one type of pickup.

EMG also make passive pickups.

You might also want to look into Seymour Duncan pickups. There are also a hoard of smaller (but great) pickup manufacturers, such as Nordstrand, Lollar, Fralin etc.

A jazzy slap sound, I'm thinking a crisp clear kind of sound? Bartolini's or Seymour Duncans (Bassline Quarterpounders) would get my vote from the manufacturers given. Tho the latter may be too hot for your preference.
