Which SRV slow blues?

The "Sky is Cryin" is pretty much Albert King who mentored Stevie. Its nice to cover songs by the newer generation when you can also go back and listen to the Masters of the Blues too. Its like covering a Clapton version of Tore Down, you can go right back to Freddy King and listen to the mentor of Clapton, not only playing but his singing style was also copied.

"The Sky Is Cryin" is Elmore James. And his version slays SRVs.

Tin Pan Alley is a great choice. I think I saw SRV something like 8 or 9 times I get all misty whenever I hear Riviera Paradise. That's gotta be my favorite SRV tune.

I voted Texas flood but my vote would have been Cold Shot as well

We can do Cold Shot (both the lead guitarist and I know it), but it's a little too fast.

Which of the three would you pick? They're all essentially the same song.

Out of the three selections I chose Texas Flood, but would have liked to have seen Tin Pan Alley instead.

Lots of suggestions for Cold Shot, which is a great song, but it's not a slow blues.

Exactly. Feel is everything with SRV covers and getting his feel is trickier than it sounds.

9 out of 10 cover bands I've heard do SRV songs do them too damn fast and too on top of the beat.

I'm with the cat that suggested taping them all and seeing which one you do best. They're all crowd favorites so it comes down to which one your band can pull off the best.

For real slow blues I always suggest Midnight Blues by Gary Moore.
