Ok, this is my first poll so I thought I would make it about something significant. :p I'm getting a P-bass (Sadowsky P5) in candy apple red with rosewood board. I want a white pickguard, but can't decide which white. The three options above are the only ones I'll consider. Vote, please!

Thanks, Fran. I've been leaning toward parchment. The rock'n'roller in me is attracted to the flash of pearloid, but I'll probably keep things more vintage. Yes, I am getting the vintage tint on the neck!

CAR is flashy enough even for the craziest rnr band. I remember playing a very sweet CAR J4 at the shop last year and I loved the finish (and that's something coming from a guy with that natural finishes obsession :D). It had 70's string spacing otherwise I had bought it right away.

I can't stand pearloid. It reminds me of all those pearly presents that kids are given here in Spain when you have your first communion...pearly pens, picture frames, books, diarys,...

(Note: Not a comment against religion at all, I just dislike those presents)

I'm currently running white on my CAR jazz bass...to me it's the perfect look.

That said, I've become a big pearloid fan too. My LPB Lakland jazz came with one, and I recently added one to my trans white Sadowsky (w/ pearl blocks & white binding). So, I've done the inevitable - a pearl guard for the Lull is on the way and I'm anxious to see how it looks.

Good luck with your decision. The great thing is that guards are cheap enough for us to change our minds now and then. Accessorizing isn't just for the women's shoe department. :D

Thanks to everyone for the pix... great lookin' basses!

Dave, I remember that thread about pickguards with CAR, but I have definitely decided on some flavor of white with my P-bass so I started this new thread. I have to say that mint looks fantastic on that gorgeous P-bass of yours. I am so freakin' undecided!~

I wish that was mine. The tort one is mine, but I found the car/mint picture somewhere and fell in love with that combo.

Sweet P-bass, idol! I am seriously considering getting two guards: one in pearloid for when I want a blingy look, and the other in either mint or parchment for the vintage vibe.

And I think tort, black, and gold are all fine with CAR, but I am definitely going with some form of white. I've just fixed the thread title to reflect this!
