I was watching Phil Collins (Brother Bear Unplugged) on VH1 this evening and noticed that the bass player was playing a slanted fret bass. Does anyone know who this bass player is? He looks like a member of ZZTOP or maybe Santa Clause and plays a slanted fret bass. Actually, he looks like the guy at Silver Dollar City.
Yes,it's Lee Sklar, here's an interview that TB's own Steve Lawson did with him. http://www.guitarist.co.uk/interviews/inter_page.asp?ID=509 Treena
Something else I like about Sklar- His beat-up P-bass has the pickup(s) "reversed"... -The coil assigned to the "E" & "A" strings is closer to the bridge. -The coil assigned to the "D" & "G" strings is closer to the neck. I'm assuming he was the one of the first to come up with that...I wonder if Leo tried it?
Yep. Sklar. EXCELLENT bass player. For some reason he seems to have sold off a LOT of old gear on Ebay lately? No slam on Dusty but for some reason I can't picture him playing a Dinger.
