Who is the best electronics trouble-shooter?

Hi,

I have a Modulus Q5 that is having some weird electronics issues. Bartonlini MM pickups. Three band EQ - I think its a Bart EQ too.

First, there is a "electronic" buzz when the bass is oriented certain directions. Sometimes that is worse that others.

Then the other day, there was zero sound. Assumed maybe the batteries were dead. But, when I opened the back, it came back to life when I jiggled some wires. Then it started sounding like a "fuzz bass" (when it wasn't dead). Another clue is that if I remove the screws while plugged in, your can hear slight static as a turn the screws. Perhaps a grounding issue?

And now, its back to "normal".

I'd sent it back to Modulus several months ago (before the latest round of issues) and they said everything checked out.

My question is, who is the best electronics troubleshooting and repair guy/gal out there? I'll ship them the bass, but I want someone that really knows their stuff to fix it.

Better yet, is anyone out there willing to coach me through the troubleshooting process? I can muddle my way through a schematic, and use a soldering iron....

I have a bridge pup that is removed from the body and I can't tell where it originally soldered to the printed board, and can't find a schematic/diagram for this model. Can anyone show me how it's done or where a diagram can be found? I'm a new member, Thx. Jimi

I don't mean to derail this thread, but I'm new and have just bought a broken B Bass that came with the bridge pup removed and disconnected and I can't make out where on the printed board it is suppose to originally solder to?? I can't find a schematic for this newer cheaper model, and only want to reattach it to work in an original config. The pup teats good on my meter at 8.2 . Thanks in advance if you can help, in New Orleans Jimi

See if you can get a wiring diagram for it from Hohner. I'm guessing it doesn't connect to the board at all given it's a vol/vol setup right? So the pickup may wire to the second vol control.
but you'd have to see the diagram to be sure. The Hohner site doesn't seem very big on supplying information so you'll doubtless have to beg. I'm really not familiar with this bass.
