Who owns the more basses from the same brand?

I have five Carvin basses and one Carvin gee-tar.

1986 V440T Most recent eBay purchase.
1989.5 LB70
2002 BB70WP Bought slightly used.
2003 BB75P
2003 B4F (fretless)
2003 Bolt (guitar)

I used to have another V440T, a 1987 which was my first bass.

I also have two Carvin bass amp stacks.

Old rig:
Pro Bass II head
V410T (4x10)
V115 (1x15)

New rig:
B1500 head
BRX10 (4x10)
BRX12 (2x12)

And a compressor, power strip, headphones, all Carvin. Probably some more stuff I'm forgetting.

Lets see here...

4 Guilds - X701, X702, B201 and an ABE B4CE
3 Benaventes - Vintage Vortex 5, Vortex Fless 5 and a Custom Shop 5
3 G&L's - 2 L2500's and a L2000
2 Sadowsky's 2 M5/24's
2 Fenders - 57P and a Geddy Lee
3 Ibanez - MC924DS, MC824DS and a Destroyer
2 Washburns - Vulture Fless and a Scavenger

Yoshishiro Naruse probably has the biggest collection of Tune basses.

On another note, how do you guys own so many basses?! I mean I can see maybe up to 5 maybe 6 including one double bass but any more seems a little excessive to me. Not bashing anyone, but wow, lol. It's like you would have to fall victim to every single case of GAS you got after looking at a bass that you wanted. That said, I have 2 Spectors, a Euro 6LX and a Euro 4LX that should be at my doorstep tomorrow.

In my case I run across more than my share of crazy deals. So do I buy the Surtine protocol 7 for $1000 even though I already have "X" number of basses?

Or the $125 68 Jazz... with Silvertone 212 amp? Or the $500 78 Jazz? Or the serial # 29 MTD 635 GC blew out for half of what they were asking? Or the $2500 Fodera Anthony Jackson Contrabass? Or the Ambush bass at a giveaway price? Or a raft of early 60's to 70's basses I picked up for a song?

I think I had around 35 basses when a friend emailed me and offered his almost brand new MPG (Matt Pulcinella) 5 string jazz to me... for $500. That's how I ended up with one more bass;)

So in a nutshell that's why I have as many basses as I do. almost all of them are still worth more than I paid for them. It's not really GAS IMO, I do the same thing with cars and audio/video gear. If it's relatively inexpensive compared to what it's worth, I'll consider it. Keep it or flip it, it's either cool stuff I can use or free money.

You are, by far, one of the luckiest people I know. If you ever get sick of collecting basses through ridiculous deals pass some my way :p
