Why are there no light weight power amps?

I've never seen the attraction of the 1-space power amps that have been manufactured up until now because they're very, very deep from front to back. That's an awkward form factor to me. I'd rather have a taller, shallow 2-space power amp like the Peavey IPRs.

Love my PLX1804, even though I have no use for it at this time.

Hmmmm, the QSC PLX1804 weighs a whopping 2.2 lbs. more than the Behringer EPQ1000 and has 2 channels of 900 watt power.

not to mention, the behringer amp looks like a QSC amp "surprise"

I picked up an XLS 2500 a week ago. Gigged it once. So far so good. Seems like the same power performance as my QSC 2402 at half the weight and a reasonable price. All the controls are menu-driven: Bridge vs stereo; high pass, low pass filters; straight crossover. Very simple to use. Time will tell. Gonna use it to run the subs this weekend.

Seriously - the Invalid Link Removed are up to 4000 watts bridged in a single rack space.

The Invalid Link Removed bridge to 5400 watts, and can be quad amps as well.

I recently picked up a Powersoft D2004 and I love it.

Silent running tons of power!

It's 1u but pretty deep, sticking out a little from the rack.

I've owned and like Crest, QSC and Chevin too but the Powersoft is worth the cost for me.

Not this one! As my cabinets are all 4Ω, your 4Ω minimum amp has no interest whatsoever for me.

Carvin make a range of light weight power amps in their DCMxxxxL series. All 15Lb or less. Not having tried the light amps I cannot comment on how they sound.

I went with their BX1500 with twin 2Ω capable power amps weighing in at 15Lb. It sounds superb.

The BX1500 is actually 10LBS.

I have a peavey DPC 1000 which is a 1u poweramp and weighs 12LBS. It is pretty deep but I manage (just barely) to get it into my gator rack bag.

The D1604 and D1502 seem really rig-worthy. For my rigors the D2002 or D3002 look pretty good.

THE!! best small bass rig is from the IP series at Bergantino I have the 12" these are the powered versions (there is one other one that has a 3 10")
you need a kiler pre amp and compressor.
pre amp ------ "Juggernaut 500"
compressor ---- Purple "Action"Comp 500
and a APA Revolver Rack to hold them in
both at atlasproaudio.com
the 12" amp and speaker is $2,000
and the pre and comp is $2,000
well you my think this is to much? think again there is no and i mean no bass amp rig that has REAL electronics. That are class A and discrete. no power amp (except Bergintino) that will have the dampening factor that will give real a response.
I work with top end studio gear and am spoiled with top sound quality. you can not get a better sound....period
