Double Bass why do Yita bows only come in 4/4 length/size?

I am looking for a first bow for my 13 year old 7th grade Double bass playing son. Just got him his first bass a 1996 Englehardt (brand new - as it had never sold in the tiny music store in our town).
It came with a german bow but my son prefers the French style.

After reading your many reviews and having a budget of around 4150 (as many other beginners do) I was thinking or ordering the Yita carbon Fiber bow so many of you recommended as a good start.

However, as I was about to order one they are only available in 4/4 size, why would that be?

Great suggestions everyone.... this site has been a truly big help

Because 4/4 is the standard length for a bow; there isn't really the same variance in sizes that there is with basses, although bow lengths can vary a bit. They just added that it was 4/4 to distinguish it for some of the tiny bows made for really young players. 4/4 is probably what you want.

I'm a big fan of shorter bows. Here you'll find a post from me about Yita. Most of their bows are longer than I prefer, so I actually wrote them and asked if they could build a bow based on my current favorite. They agreed and made a close copy for me for around $300. I don't know if they would do a custom CF bow, but why not ask?
