Why does everyone either hate or love John Hall of Rickenbacker?

I mean it seems like some people assume that anybody who has heard of John Hall of Rickenbacker have an opinion of him in a general sense. Is it so hard to believe that maybe some days we love him, maybe some days we hate him, maybe some days we are neutral? Thoughts?

Why do people post questions like this in Basses when it clearly belongs in Misc.?
Own - not just play - a few Ric basses & you should be able to answer your own question.

What if he owns them and never plays them?

I have a ric. 2 different bands with sound needs on the opposite end of the spectrum. Both like the ric the best out of my 4 bases. So it's more versatile than people think. My 5th, a Sadowsky, hasn't gotten played with the band yet. As far as hall, don't have an opinion.
