Why has TB been so slow recently??

I think this is to do with how many people are on - so generally, I log on at a time equivalent to about 04.00 in the morning in the US - which means there are very few people around and it is pretty fast - no problems.

But occasionally I have logged on later, when there are hundreds of people around and it is very slow and I get those server messages all the time.

The answer is to get rid of most of the people - it's too popular - we need to discourage people - put them off coming here!!!

In the future, if you could please post specific times when this occurs. The datacenter where TalkBass is hosted got DOS attacked (denial of service) on 11-1, so this may have been when you had the problem? The DOS attack was not against TalkBass specifically, but damaged the network on which we're hosted.

Starting today (11-3) things should be much better (I did some major database optimizations on 11-1, and we're doubling our server's RAM today). So, please continue to let me know if you get a 'server too busy' error or excessively slow load times (with specific times of occurance). Thanks!

Ok Paul, will do! It seems to be faster today, so maybe a RAM Upgrade was all it needed...

It's getting faster, but it's still not what it use to be. A lot of the smilies and icons do not load for me, I get red x's.
