Sorry dude. I hereby assign all props to you as the original poster. ;) I didn't catch your post. I saw it on another bass site. I'm a big fan of the Mule and, having seen them a dozen or so times in the past few years, now I'm a big Andy H. fan too. If any of you haven't seen them and you get the chance, I highly recommend getting your a** kicked by The Mule!

So when the P bass hits that low E and it sounds undefined and empty, is that supposed to happen? Because it happens on my P-bass and it happens on every other P-bass I've heard except for a rare few.

Not trying to start anything, I'm just wondering if the P pickup has a flaw where it can't register low notes as well as say a single coil J pickup.

Gov't Mule is great, though. :)

LOL....it's no big deal I was just messing around....I put that vid around two other fourms as well...I love it!!!!!

I'd love to join a band like that.

No it shouldn't :hmm: I don't get this on either of mine or the five other bass I have with P pickups, I've played a few Ps that do that as well as basses with any other pickup, no idea why some do and some don't.

I've played for 30 years and briefly had a fretless unlined P about 25 years ago. Hated P's ever since. I'm not a stranger to vintage tone since I still have and play my 73 Jazz (always with roundwounds) but most of the 55 basses I've owned have all had multiple pups and active electronics.
For some strange reason I bought a Fender Japan 70 RI P in Capri orange with white pickguard and rosewood neck about 9 months ago put a set of Labella flats on it. Started playing it around the house for fun and thought, "you know, this sounds kind of cool!"
Had a church gig where they were doing some old Motown tune and thought I should try the P on that one. WOW!!! It sounded SOOO good and it made me play differently ( in a good way).
I've now fallen in love with the sound and have split the tunes on most of my club gigs between it and my Sadowsky.

In an age of 13 string basses and 18 volt electronics it's amazing that the "first bass" still captures the hearts of most bass players. It just sounds like BASS.
