Why is Fender so Popular?

if you dont feel the need to debate or dont like people bashing fenders, dont click the thread or dont reply.. So many people trolling posts clicking on the post called "i hate guitarists" then somone posting god, im so sick of hearing this post just close the thread. What did u think he was gonna say in the thread? how he just got his new Ric?? If your a fender fan, unless u wanna defend ur brand or read a bunch of flaming.... dont click the damn link.

You're right, but every once in a while I like to check the weekly Fender hate thread to see what's new. Nothing ever is of course...

Wouldn't your same logic apply to Fenders? If people don't like them, can't they just not buy cars with Fenders?

I think the reason Fender is so popular is because it was A) the first "working man's instrument". B) The designs just made sense ( playing wise, tone wise ). C) now they are THE strongest name in the industry...McDonalds if you will. It's SO big it's EVERYWHERE. Try to find a store that doesn't carry it. Heck, Cosco has it for crying out loud! They have the largest ads and the most ads in all the mag's. Ever read a BAD review on a Fender ANYTHING in those mag's? No because they represent so much $$$ and nobody is going to bite the hand that feeds them. Right? It's forced on us like SUV's are. Take a look at all the high price artists they have in the catalog spreading the word for them. This works out GREAT for Fender but doesn't make it the best, just the biggest. Ok, I'm getting off my soapbox.

Or for that matter, take them off your car and sell them used, or stash them in a closet, I understand they keep their value well. Especially ones from the '50s.

... <garbage snipped for lack of relevance>

Like it or not, agree with it or not, $300 to $1200 is the range I specified in the post you didn't read throughly enough the first time but decided to reply to anyhow. You felt the need to reply somehow because it's clear to anyone who reads this thread that you didn't get it right the first time. Well, it's too late, Bradley. The only response you deserve is to have me point that out again.

Read, boy. It's fundamental. And have whatever kind of day you can manage :D

But, it makes a difference to me and how I play; how good I feel about it; how that in turn makes me play and how free and easy I feel about the experience which comes out in my performance.

Absolutely. When you get a good tone, you feel inspired. When you get a crap tone, you can't play as you would normally.
:D

That was nonsense. There are probably thousands, maybe millions, of people who play (own might be a better word) Fenders because someone else does. There's so much monkey-see-monkey-do mentality it's ridiculous.
Maybe some pick up a Fender after seeing others play them but you don't play them for over 20 years because others play them.

You either get them or you don't. It doesn't mean THEY suck if you don't get them. It just means YOU do. :hiding:

Do you really think anyone is going to read all 18 pages of this thread, plus all infinity pages of every other "Fender sucks" thread that can be found by searching in this forum?

"I'd rather listen to Rocco Prestia on a Fender P than Joe Q Fumblefingers on a quilt-top dayglo Frenchcurve-o-caster any day" - Mon Rominee

Great quote, Mon. May I add this to my sig line?

That's all I got to say 'bout that

Better yet tremor, why not use the search function and revive one of the million carbon copies of the same thread instead of being one of many predisposed to starting new threads on tired old topics? And why so huffy anyway?

Im not huffy, and im not even the one who started the post, my point is scroll past it... its one line of text. Its like the people on youtube that go and watch a britanny spears video and then comment on it saying she sucks... why are u typing brittany spears in on youtube in the first place if u hate her. 90% of the threads are Bass clubs and debates, or completly off the wall things, thats what keeps it interesting, so if u see which star wars person would play bass, and u hate goofy things, dont click it.

Nah, you can mostly attribute that with a fear of change. :hiding:

Hey, I'm wide open to change.

I'll issue you this challenge, and this goes to every luthier, custom builder, or even budget bass builder out there in TB land too.

Ship me at your expense, your best bass. If, in my opinion, it sounds better with my band, and gets the job done better than my P basses, I'll buy it from you. If not, I'll ship it back to you at your cost.

If you're confident that you can get it done better, then you won't mind gambling on eating the shipping charges. :)

Any takers?

Sorry if that doesn't seem like just a way to screw someone out of money.
