BHolder, give it a shot. I really can not tell when it's off or on except for the reduction of HUM. You should be able to see if it pulls other signals by playing a humbucker through it.. something that will NOT be putting hum into the signal. Then just tap the thing on and off and see if you can hear any difference. I can't. And if you are in a noisy environment, it's just amazing how it kills the hum. I've been 2 feet away from neon signs or other monster RF transmitters and it does a great job.
when I remember to bring it, it stays on all night since I havent been able to notice a down side to leaving it on. I really think the fact that it's an AC/AC instead of AC to DC adapter that is the magic. That it needs an AC signal to be aware of the peaks/valleys of the power.. that's where I think the hum is coming from anyway.
