Double Bass Wichita Lineman - Alan Pasqua Trio

Let me see if I understand what just happened here:
Alan Pasqua/Jimmy Webb/Reg Wilson/Joe Farrell/Glen Campbell/Beach Boys/Homer Simpson/Kenny Rogers/Willie Nelson/Waylon Jennings...

Godd**n Internet!
Thanks.

Good point, we forgot Jimi, Bill Evans, and Kenny G. No forum discussion is complete until they're mentioned. Oh, and Hitler.

Ok, i'll bring it back to the neighborhood of the original post and say that Darek Oles is a seriously bad motherf@#*er. He's on a great Bennie Maupin record called Penumbra, no chordal instrument (just reeds, bass, drums and percussion) so Darek is completely exposed and he sounds just beautiful. Big thumbs up for him

Yep - they're out there but no exposure

At this point the publics ears have been so dumbed down a 9th chord is exotic

40 yrs ago the 'country' guys were pretty sophisticated - now the Nashville song writing machine is crudely sophomoric - high production values & great playing but nothing challenging

And somehow that line turns it into an absolutely beautiful love song and suddenly it is not about the utility company any more. And it never really was. Brilliant. Today's songwriters can't touch it and today's producers don't want anything with a melody.
