Double Bass Wilbur Ware Super Bass

I ordered it from the website [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] A little expensive but it came in a few days. Some serious swing! I played this for my teacher who worked with Blackwell and Don Cherry a fair bit and the look on his face was priceless..

Finally heard this. Great music, loads of beautiful Wilbur Ware (including unaccompanied solo tracks), and Don Cherry sounds fantastic. it's a real shame though that the mixing and mastering are so poor. The hook-up between Wilbur Ware and Ed Blackwell should be a major contribution to the study of classic rhythm sections, but Blackwell is mixed way too low, making it hard to hear a lot of what he's doing. He sounds a bit messy and uninspired on this to me (and I say that from the perspective of him being one of my all time favourite drummers) but that's probably more to do with the sound than the playing

Will have to track this one down. The latest Ware I can remember hearing is from a Charles Moffett record, 1969, I think.

In one of LeRoi Jones' books (Black Music, I think) he writes of a trio w/Ware, Cherry and Billy Higgins which was not recorded or, at least, no records released. "Super Bass" may be as close as I get to hearing that group.

Al co-produced it! There is another one coming with FOUR drummers: Blackwell, Roger Blank, Denis Charles and one other, maybe Clifford Jarvis.

We are doing a radio show around it on Sunday, with Alvin and I playing live duos:
This Sunday, 7-9pm texas time, Pete Gershon's KTRU show: Damon Smith/Alvin Fielder duo live + the new Wilbur Ware album & unreleased music from Alvin's personal archive.

Sorry for reviving an old post but anyway,
Does anybody else own Super Bass and their track 7 ends fairly abruptly like right in the middle of a solo?
I believe it also starts with a false start so maybe it was just a sample.
Just worried if my CD is effed.
Cheers guys
