I've had about 306 different pickups of various types in my '72 precision fretless ( now a 5 string with a high C ) since 1978 and have finally ( we'll see! ) settled on Wilkinson MM style pickups, one where the precision pickup was and one at the bridge. The trick with them is to set them quite low as they have a big output but when set at the right height to suit your rig they sound gorgeous. I liked them ( and the price ) so much I ordered a 4 string set to put away for a rainy day. They now reside in my OLP bass and sound incredible. I had the OLP set up by a repairman who has worked for some serious players over the past 30yrs or so and he kept commenting on how good it sounds. Try them! By the way, the wiring is as follows, on one coil red is + and black is - and the other coil, yellow is + and white is - though I have known companies to completely change the colours of the wires on the same model p/u over the years. Good luck.
