Will two seperate 1x15 cabs be too muddy?

Just curious......I'm looking for sheer volume and rumble but no undefined mud!

It all depends on the cabinets. FWIW, I use two 1x15 cabinets and don't think it gets at all muddy.

its not about the mud, its about the tone that is hard to get out of only having big speakers imo.

I have a three S-15D Bag End stack and there is no mud. It is clear, crisp, and punchy.

I'll second that. Two Bag End S15-D's are full but not muddy.

And like jsingles said: Two quality 1x15's should fit the bill.

+1 on the quality 115 cabs. They are not muddy at all. I think that as more people migrated to 10s, it became fashionable to bash 15s as muddy. It depends on what you value most - both have their strengths. BTW - a lot of 215 cabs are build so as to isolate each driver space from the other = 2 X 115.

I have a 1x15 Nemesis cab. I just have the one, but I don't hear any mud with that. I can't see a problem running 2 of them if both are 8ohms. After seeing the DRBass 1x15, I'm tempted to try one of those as well.

Go Bag End. That's all I use anymore. Louder than anything, and as mentioned, mud-free.

My main rig is a Trace V-Type 1x15 combo plus a Trace 1x15 cab. No muddiness at all, just a huuuuuuuuuuuge sound

I remember back in the day all we ever used were JBL140's and Altec Lansing 421A's, single 1x15, double 1x15's, an Ampeg 2x15 JBL loaded, oh, and a Fender 2x15 JBL with either a 150 watt Bassman head or an Ampeg 300 watt SVT. All combo'ed up, separate, mix & match, it all sounded good. Of course you can't get those drivers anymore, but hey, back then....

I play 2 single 15"s and they rock the house without fail.

I can't deal with the heft of a 2x15" cab anymore. The single 15 cabs move the same air, and I can carry them.
