I don't see a Lightwave Bass Club on here. As an owner, fan, and wannabe owner of more Lightwaves, I am going to start a thread. If somone else has a Lightwave Bass Club thread going, I sincerely apologize and want to become a member there.

I don't know for sure how these clubs get started here on Bass-Talk? Is there an official process, or does someone just start a thread?

If it is as simple as someone starting a thread, here goes...

Club Lightwave #1 ???

I wish mine had a nice woody top; I really don’t like the solid red.

The body is flat, so it could probably be planed to have a fancy piece of veneer added or something.

I found this one posted in the TB “Hot Deals” room selling for about half price brand new on Amazon.com, so I thought a light-weight bass might be a handy thing to have.

As soon as I bought it, the price went back up to $1,045. Amazon did a lot of that, maybe still do.

If I could have my dream Lightwave, I would ask for:
Saber VL-5
Fretless, unlined undotted ebony fretboard
Flame Maple Top
Cherry Sunburst Finish
Ebony Ramp to match fretboard
HEX FX

Imagine this one, except the VL model, with an unlined, undotted ebony fretboard and ramp:

Or better yet, have the fretboard just extend as far as a ramp, I see Cello's with fingerboard hanging in the air with nothing underneath for the last few inches. That would be cool on a bass.

Put me down for two, I've got a translucent black fretted 5 string VL Sabre, and a natural 5 string fretless.

These are the only two basses I own now and cover every playing situation with ease.

When I replaced the factory strings on my Lightwave, I have always used the Dean Markley SR-2000 strings. I really like them because of the brightness and sustain.

I saw the SIT Power Core strings advertised as having brightness and sustain. They have an exposed core and the ends are very similar looking to the SR-2000's.

I notice that he DM string has a tiny wind around the core and it also looks like there are three layers of strings wound on the rest of the string, where the SIT has nothing on the core and only two layers of thicker winding on the balance.

I have not installed the SIT yet. I ordered two new sets one of each in case I decide I don't like the.

The SIT set was cheaper and made right here in Ohio.
