One final wash with yellow, then a coat of rub-on poly:

Too bad the bridge is going to cover the "thermonuclear explosion" figuring at the butt end, that's pretty cool stuff right there. 
The pics make it look reddish brown like Bubinga - it's not - it's really bright, bright red.
More buffing, let it dry a few more hours and hit it with my improvised buffer:

I did lose the burst effect, picked up and spread too much red with the last wash of yellow; need to work on that.

Yeah, the compost pile is overdue for a turning! Seriously, gotta get cleaned up in here...Man that looks awesome!
I also noticed the miscellaneous debris on your desk is slowly but gracefully making way for the beautiful new inhabitant..
I kind of messed up the back a bit, waited too long to start dyeing it, got finish on it had to sand back out, now it's blotchy. Still looks ok. Test fit the battery box.

I'm starting to worry whether the pickups and bridge will arrive in time. I mean, it's still months, sure, but they weren't in stock and Bartolini has a bad rep for being slow and unresponsive since Covid...
Colors just don't come through in the pics. The way the top looks this morning, I mighta-shoulda named it "Immolatus". 
New developments as of this morning: neck attached. battery box installed, also the control back plate, I swapped the stock chrome screws out for black pickguard screws:

I did get the sloped neck pocket back, so I was happy I got the neck bolts sorted correctly so as not to have them poking up through the board! 
Wait wait wait! The pickup & bridge package just arrived from Sweetwater! How many minutes left? hehe - not going to attempt, I don't do "rush jobs" when soldering - good way to screw it up lol...Sigh. Gotta take a "DNF" (Did Not Finish) on my three entries, sidetracked waiting on backordered parts and open design questions and unrelated distractions.
Parts should arrive tomorrow for this one, at least, so it'll be moving again.
