Wintersun

[Vox Populi]

So as a lifelong metalhead, I've recently been exposed to the Finnish metal scene, bands like Ensiferum, Wintersun, Kalmah, etc. I've especially taken a liking to Wintersun. Early Ensiferum is good too (same singer), but I like Wintersun more.

So does anyone know some similar bands, in the same "melodic black/death/power metal" vein?

Skyfire are fun.

Children of Bodom are pretty ubiquitous in that scene.

My favourites though, for quite a while now, are Omnium Gatherum. Shocking name, but the music (especially the 1st album, "Spirits and August Light") is just sublime. I just can't hear it often enough. Some awesome guitar work throughout.
