Wireless Loudspeakers

I was at an outdoor event this weekend and saw that they were using a wireless connection from the board to the each of the remote speakers (each powered by an inverter, incidentally). Looked like a neat and tidy setup without all that cabling running all over the place. As far as I could tell, the system was working really well and the sound left nothing to be desired. This is the setup that was being used:

Has anyone used this type of setup indoors? Experiences?
Any issues with signal dropout or degradation?

Sennheiser has some very nice wireless speaker systems that also run on battery power from camera batteries. Very well done design that sounds really good too.

I have seen the Alto but at the price point and the brand name I have not bitten yet.

I'd love to try these, but I definitely wouldn't feel comfortable using them at any job where my reputation was on the line. A wireless receiver used by a musician can be muted at the board if it starts getting interference (and swapped or changed relatively quickly). What do you do if these devices start picking up interference? Quick run a 100' cable to your mains?

Sorry, no experience to share. I think if you look you'll find products that would allow you to transmit a signal to any powered speaker.

To editorialize, the NEED for a wireless solution is very limited; situations where running a signal cable is impractical or impossible but where running power is not a problem (crying room? Other side of a doorway?) Otherwise it's just a convenience. I'm lazy enough to run wireless DMX, but not so lazy that I'll risk interruptions to the sound. When DMX glitches some of the lights stop responding and I doubt that people notice. I think about how often one of our 3 guitar wireless have glitched and I don't think I want to take that risk with ALL of the sound.
