Wiring a Musicman HB Pickup to be passive?

I have a 1999 Musicman sterling 4 string bass with a broken preamp section that is now totally removed.

Is it possible to wire my musicman 3-coil humbucker (as it is) up in a passive configuration (vol/tone/3way switch-series/parallel/split ) or do I need to unhook the the dummy coil to used as passive?

The pickup itself is passive, so just remove the preamp and replace the pots with the appropriate values. (250K/500K)

I am getting very low output .875 ohms when metering the white/bare/green tied up and the red/black tied together.

How can I wire this beast in series (which I think may be the only possible way the output will be enough)? Is the dummy coil getting in the way?

My wires are:
Red/Black/Bare (silver)/Green and white.

you tried in the instrument, or just guessing from the low resistance?
my 2 coil MM5 has quite good output, anthough it is about 1,3K paralleled.
I don't know how the dummy coil is affecting that.
I think, for serial, you need to disconnect red from black, and white from green, then connect 2 of them together, while 2 other wire would be the hot and colt output, but don't remember, which to which.

I hope this helps and i dont think disconnectiong the dummy coil is a good idea, it might mess things up
