I have an Epiphone EB0 bass with the standard Epiphone pickup. I want to replace it with a DiMarzio DP120 pickup. Does anyone have the info on wiring it as a direct replacement? Also, as much as DiMarzio says that this pickup was created to be a replacement for the original Epiphone pickup, can anyone tell me if there's any modifications needed to mount the DP120 in the current Epiphone location?

First, let me say thanks to you guys for giving me the encouragement to do this changeover (upgrade) myself. It's done, and what a dramatic improvement. Now the sound is crisp and clean, (Except when I screw up myself). If anyone ever asks you about the upgrade, please note that as much as DiMarzio calls this a direct replacement, it is not. First, the routed out opening where the mudbucker had been needs to be routed out due to the DiMarzio being a slightly larger pickup. Second, the differences in the wiring are that the Epiphone mudbucker has only two wires. A black and a white. The DiMarzio has the black (ground), white, a green, a red, and another black, The second black is a thin wire and is joined together with the white, soldered and taped so that they don't make any contact with other connections. The green is soldered to ground and the red is connected to the hot side iof the volume pot.
I'm a rookie when it comes to soldering and making mods to guitars, bassed etc. I can't understand a schematic, but I did make it through this, so all is well.

These days, always take a picture of the connections before taking anything apart. If you need help, there's all kinds of people on this board that can help.
Did the DiMarzio come with instructions? I think the extra wires are so you can do a coil tap.

Yes, there were instructions, but, I did try to install using just the black ground and the white in the same way as the original mudbucker was installed, but couln't get any volume to speak of. As soon as I wired up according to DiMarzio's instruction, everything worked perfectly. I've now got a bass that sounds the way it should.
