Double Bass Wiring preamp -> poweramp?

Hi

Today I've received my powered speaker and tomorrow I will hopefully receive a preamp (Behringer Bass V-amp pro). The only input on the speaker is an XLR-input, but should I use a jack - XLR cable or a XLR - XLR cable to wire my preamp and speaker. So, should I use the balanced or unbalanced output on the preamp?

Use the XLR balanced output from the preamp if the powered cab only has an XLR input. All you need is a short mic cable.

Why does it really have to be short? Decrease signal loss?

The balanced lines are good at retaining the signal and keeping things silent. It doesn't have to be short, but then it doesn't need to be long.
