I'm having the first of bilateral carpal tunnel surgery tomorrow. Followed by the next in two weeks. I went and had all the testing done and came back moderate severe. I had tried exercises and use the braces. All doesn't help. I chose surgery so I can get past this and get on with my life. I want my hands back. We played a show this past Tuesday and I was dying by 4th set. severe pain in fret hand and my right hand asleep. Guitar player said why are playing so hard. I didn't notice because my hand was completely asleep. So I'll let everyone know with a follow up................Thanks for letting me rant.

Update on my bilateral CTS surgery. i had one on June 3 and the next on June 17th. I wore a brace and wrap for one week and then had sutures removed. The brace kinda sucked but was tolerable. My left hand is doing great no pain or burning feeling. Still sore around incision, but I can play a little. Right hand is only 1 1/2 weeks post surgery. Sutures are out. Hand is still bruised and tender, but getting better every day. I'm doing soft ball rehab and playing scales about 10 mins a day. MD says I can start back at end of week. I will take it slow, but I see a full recovery by end of July. No pain or burning is an awesome feeling. I am happy I did it and can get back to rocking out.

Prognosis of full recovery is good news man!

I'm curious what led up to needing the surgery? Like lot of us I've had relatively minor inflammation issues in the past but the last four months or so I can't seem to heal up and I'm starting to get a little concerned.

I had the emg testing done, it came back severe on both. After talking with the MD, it made sense to get it done and over with. I could have tried the cortisone, but he felt it really was beyond that.
