Double Bass With the db into the metal deep end?

db'er here looking for some equipment. I just put all of my savings into my bass and lo and behold, after 10 years of inactivity everybody and his cousin is trying to get me to session with them. lovely, but i have no amp and no cash (into the forseeable future).

after looking around here at the alternatives and at all of the shops (in germany) where i am i came across this in the internet.

a laney amp - i have heard that they are great for metal but a good "clean" sound for a piano trio - bossa band is what i need.

all input and suggestions are welcome but here are my predjudices/requirements:

portable power in the 500 $/€ price range,
no speakers larger than 10s, personal predjudice
no behringer, peavy or fender (mostly a sound thing for db)
an amp with extra power for another cab (rules out most other alternatives in this price range).

HELP - will I just be throwing my money away, i have to mail order this thing so i cant play it before hand - and i have some huge gigs coming up.

Well I know you say no to Fender, but I'd say it would be good idea to check out the Fender tiltback combos, the 100 and 150 are the ones I've been told work well with upright and electric.

roland cube 30 if money matters. very powerful for 30 watts. powerful enough for DB for sure.

thanks guys for the input. i played a roland 30 the other day and was not SO impressed - too little bottom for use with my drummer i thought - also not really extendable. i need something that is going to grow a little with me.

(ich bleibe auch liebe bei englisch das ich ein paar mehr infos krieg, und ja, bin kein deutsch muttersprachler :})

does anyone have experience with a similar rated 2x10 combo or any combo from laney with the db.

I Know it comes in a bit higher than you 500E budget, but I'd be very tempted to try this rig out myself.
I want to know how these yamaha cabs sound.
They are rated at 4 ohms so it will get the little mark amp delivering its full 250 watts.

You could use the yamaha cabinet to get going, sell it later and get two 8 ohm cabinets for a more versatile st up.

The mark bass little mark amp is great, although if your drummer is loud you might find you would need the more powerful version, although this will push the price up even further.
