Double Bass Wood for a new bridge for my EUB

Hi everybody

I just bought a new EUB without a bridge rolleyes:I know, I know...) and I found someone to design and build a custom one. But where can I find the right wood for it? I live in Canada but know I may have to import it from the US.

About any luthier in town should have quartersawn maple for a bridge, and even do the job in the most competent way.
I suggest you bring your instrument to Mario Lamarre in Verdun, to have him make a bridge to your instrument.
He's simply the best, and you live nearby!

Thanks François! The problem with Mario is, from what I've heard, that he's got a few months of delay for that kind of job. I'll check with luthiers in Montreal!

Well, seems like even though the province of Quebec is the largest producer of maple sirup in the world, there is no way to find a piece of quartersawn maple anywhere in the province. Looks like I'll have to import it from the states.

I may have some scraps left, juts tell me what size you need and I'll check what I have...

Hi François, I would need quite a big chunk: 6 X 8 X 1 inch. I might have found some at Winnipeg (Elrick bass). I'll keep you posted.
