i want to get a whamola and i want to know what wood would be best, they are all the same price and so price cant help me choose, the choices of species are:
  • cherry
  • walnut
  • maple
Please im extremely interested to learn this instrument, and me and my friend have been talking about starting a band, i made an account here because you guys would know more about wood choices than me (this is the site Buy A Whamola — Purveyors of Fine Whamolas)

I don't think it will make much difference. It's more about the looks than anything else. Choose the one you think looks best. My choice for looks would be the cherry.

The right choice is whatever one looks best to you. They're all similar hard/dense woods, and it's not like a Whamola has tone. You wack the string with a stick. Just get the prettiest one.

There's not really much learning the whamola. It's meant more as a noise maker rather than something that you play bass lines on. You certainly could play it like a washtub bass, but you could just build one of those for way less than $300 for a whamola.
