Double Bass Working through a blister

Ive got a nasty blister on my finger that is hampering my slap playing. Even my Pizz is suffering. Is there any advice that can help me get this blister past its extremely sore stage and on to a more callouss tip?

I am thinking of cutting it open. Should I? I mean, I can't really play at all with it. And tonight is practice with the band. Ugh!!

I pop them.

If you have a gig, ignore and play through it. You won't feel it once you start playing. If you don't have a gig, you can give it a day to heal.

I know you're talking about playing a DB (I'm from the other side of the fence), but my car once overheated en route to an important gig. I went to open the radiator cap with a hand towel. Got burned pretty badly, on the tips of my right fingers. No way out, had to play the gig. I bought bandaids, put them on, and they immediately fell off when I started playing. It hurt for about 30 seconds, then either went numb or adrenaline just took over. I was fine after that.

Well. Thanks for all the advice. I did cut into it but it was still sore last night and did hamper my playing. I did a lot less slapping and when I did, it was in the style of Milt Hinton. I tried to just use my pointer finger and just the edge of it and not the pad of the fingers. I will look into the tape. Thanks.
