Worth it?

Hi there I'm new to the forums just thought I'd share. But anyway today I tried out the Gallien Krueger Backline 600 with the matching 4x10 cabinet, I personally liked it and at £400 roughly $780. I play a MIM Jazz and soon a 3eq musicman stingray. I wondered if this amp is worth my money and suitable for rock/funk in the style of RATM and RHCP etc?

Not trying to put you off, but ive heard some less that great reviews about the Backline series, tho ive never played one for an extended period of time.

Might be able to spread that £400 more on ebay?

Thanks for the input, the £400 was for both the head and cab so I thought it was pretty good. After looking at online reviews I had seen it was quite good though?

Is it new or used?

Because for used there are some better options in the price range.

Last year, i saw a hardly used Marshall VBA400 with matching VBC412 speaker cabinet, going for a Buy it Now on ebay of £500.

Again, this part is just my opinion, but i'd probably lean towards some peavey gear, could get a half decent setup for less than £400

The head is very good. The Backline cabinet not. Use it with a better cabinet and it'll do you well.

I was thinking of running it through the GK cab to start with then later upgrading/adding another cab to it, but at the moment this seems like an exceptional amp for the price?

GK is a well trusted brand... The Backline series is not run of the mill GK, however.

Thanks for the input, I may buy the amp for now as I am an aspiring novice on a budget at the moment. When I raise enough money I will probably consider looking at a rb series head or possibly trace or ampeg bass amps.

Theres some really good Marshall bass gear about too, dont hear much about that stuff outside the UK, but its cheaper for us than it is most places (for a change)
