Would this head/cab be ok?

The cab is ok but it is a known fact that Behringer bass amps are terrible amps. If i were you i'd look into getting a Hartke head and possibly a Hartke cab. They're pretty cheap, reliable, and sound good at least IMO. But i think most people will agree Behringer doesn't make good bass amps, ive never heard anything good about them. But i personally own a Hartke and am 100% satisfied. Also i don't think the GK ultralight heads cost to much either and ive haven't heard off anything bad about those. Even if you did get those two though you'd be over powering the cab with that head, they wont work together.

ha thanks I'll stay away from behringer so. Does that apply to behringer pedals as well as amps?

yup ive only owned two behringer pedal and i got 2 defective ones of a synth and my volume pedal broke in a week. they're pedals are all boss copies anyways. also why are you buying of that website? ive never hear of it before just go to musician's friend or go to a GC in person

Carlsbro is not a household name.

You're on the right track going used though. Used Peavey is common in Ireland, good stuff and cheap. Gallien Kruger may be common enough but too expensive even used.

Welcome to the bass players curse. Low frequencies are power hungry and torture speakers. There's a limit to how cheap you really want to go before you're buying junk or not enough rig for the gig. If you indicate your budget and your gig situation it helps iron it out.

Carlsbro was a well known mid range brand in the sixties and seventies, and many well known musicians owned one at some time or another:

I owned one myself for a while and it was totally reliable although as to be expecteddid not have the quality of bigger budget brands.
It seems to me that you are just throwing out names, and seeing the response. Not a bad thing to do on a forum but I would strongly urge you to listen to a few first, then ask for feedback once you have a clearer idea of what you like.

Save longer, borrow gear until you can afford one of these:http://barefacedbass.com/product-range/big-one.htm

Yes, 948£ for a cab that is one of the lightest, finest, and loudest bass cabinets made! Buy ANY used micro head, like a Shuttle 6, or GK MB 500 (~250£). Rock on.

You may want to have the Ashdown looked at by a good amp tech. Then, instead of buying a whole new rig, instead, look for an Ashdown 1x15 ext cab. Adding a matched ext spkr to the combo will likely net you a 6dB increase in volume. And cost less, including the tech's bench fee.

What about a 2x10? Would that maybe add more tonal variety? Would it be at the cost of volume?
